Weddings: Laura and Will

I can still remember my initial meeting with Laura and Will, after we got all the introductions out of the way we started to talk about their wedding and what the day was going to in tale.  Their wedding was going to take place in Port Chalmers at the beautiful Iona Church followed by their reception at the Port Chalmers Town Hall.  I then learnt that they meet at high school, Laura is a lawyer and Will works on the family farm and they had recently had an overseas trip where Will proposed to Laura.....romantic!

I was thinking wow this will be a fabulous wedding and a gorgeous couple to photograph!  Then Laura informed me that Will wasn't really into getting his photo taken and would I give them guidance on the day as she was really hoping to get that natural looking, un staged romantic shot!  Hmmm........I was now thinking this could be a slightly challenging groom!

Well my fears totally unjust!  It was totally obvious that Will is so in love with Laura and I had no problems capturing those natural looking, un staged romantic shots!  Laura and Will I loved working with you guys.  It was such a fun day and Will you sure could work it for the camera.  Thank you for letting me be there to capture those moments that will last you a lifetime.

Enjoy x

Weddings: Disa and Warren

Rain, rain go away...was pretty much how it was the morning of Disa and Warrens special day.  However by the time I left to head down to Harrington Point the rain had cleared and blue skies were starting to appear.

Disa and Warren's ceremony was held on the Otakou Marae and that was just one of the many special and unique touch's of their day.  The girls boquet's were completely hand woven with flax and they looked amazing.

It truly was a day of celebration with much laughter, singing, music and Arohanui. Disa and Warren thank you for allowing me to capture your wonderful day.

Personal: Happiness is......

Today Greg and I celebrate 10 years of marriage.  I can still remember so much from our special day....my flowers, the cars, the music, being surrounded by family and friends but most of all the commitment we made to each other.  As I look back on the last 10 years there has been laughter, tears, overseas travel, a new home, 2 beautiful children, but most of all we have learnt to grow as a couple as well as individuals.

So yes, today is a celebration of not only where we have come from but also where we are heading to.  And I couldn't ask for anyone better to take that journey with.

ps:  yesterday I got my dress down from the top of the wardrobe....and well you know....I couldn't help myself :-)

Personal: A Piece of History

Recently, having spent a fantastic weekend in Naseby with friends, we decided to head for home over the Dunstan Trail.  We stopped at the Jail in Styx for a picnic lunch by the river and then headed over the trail.
The track was first used by gold miners seeking the riches of the Dunstan gold diggings in the 1860's.  It was the shortest route at the time from Dunedin to Dunstan (Clyde).  It would take horse drawn drays 2 - 3 weeks to complete the round trip from Dunedin to Dunstan and back.
There was usually an overnight stop at the Styx.  The "jail" was a lock up where the gold bullion was protected.  The chains which where used to padlock the the gold chest in safety are still in place today.
I would have to say it was an awesome trip and if you have a 4WD I would highly recommend it.
