Day 30: My Life in Images

When I started my 30 Day Project it was just a bit fun, a project to get me into the habit of taking my camera everywhere and taking some pictures throughout my day.  It  has become more than taking a few pictures here and there, it has been a meaningful learning journey for me.  For the past 30 days I have become to notice the little moments, the significance the everyday tasks have on my life, I have pushed myself outside of my comfort zone, I have opened my eyes and my heart to the environment I live in, I have explored parts of my city I have never ventured before, I have watched bees gathering pollen, I have seen cherry blossom that looks like marshmallows one week and the next is turning to leaf, I have seen the extraordinary in the ordinary.  I have growled, I have laughed, I have wanted to cry, I have smiled, I have surrounded myself with people I cherish and love and who I know love me back.

I have discovered that I tell my story with images.

Day 29: Moments of Calm

Sometimes in the chaos of the day we need to find a moment of calm

Day 28: Destination Life

All of life is a journey which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us.
We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we arrive.

Day 27: You Are My Song

You are my frustration, you are my calm,
you are my anguish, you are my content,
you are my sorrow, your are my joy,
but above all you are the song that makes my heart sing.

Love you always xx

Day 25: Celebrating 90

Nana, today was a special celebration, today you turned 90.  As we look back on your 90 years you have achieved so much from surviving a war, emigrating to NZ from Scotland with a young family and of course having danced through out most of your life.  And as you remind us all so many times it is the dancing that keeps you going.

Tonight it was wonderful to watch you celebrate your 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends as you danced the night away.  Happy birthday day Nana and here's to a wonderful and colourful 90 years, with much love xx

Day 24: Giggle

I love family gatherings and tonight we have had all my family (well almost all) here for tea as we have all come together for a special celebration that will be taking place tomorrow.  I think there is something special about blood ties, even when you are from different parts of the world, these two wasted no time in picking up where they last left off.  Our house was definitely filled with noise and giggles tonight.

Day 23: Hannah's Tree

Hannah is our beautiful God daughter and at her naming ceremony we gifted her a plum tree.  Unfortunately it wasn't really right the time of year for a fruit tree and the little tree we picked, which was the best of the ones there, was rather sad.  I thought the little tree wouldn't make it but today as I drove past I noticed it was in blossom.  So little Hannah Day 23 is your tree, may it continue to grow stong, blossom year after year and fruit xx

Day 21: Cat

Cat has been Angus' loyal companion for the past 4 years.  He has been so well loved that his ears are tatty, his eyes are fading and he has even been stitched up a number of times.

We don't often go far without Cat in tow but Angus is becoming a big boy now and Cat isn't as needed as often as he was.  But when Angus is tired, sad or sick you can always depend on Cat to make things right.....and today has been one of those days even if we did have to wait for him to dry.

Day 19: Loving my Kelly Moore

Meet my Kelly Moore camera bag!  Yes that's right my camera bag!  I am loving my Kelly Moore camera bag as not only is it fairly new, it is also stylish and fun and has been a fantastic companion to me during my 30 day project.  So clearly had to be the star for 1 of the 30 days.

Day 18: Reaching the Brow

Walking Hindon Hill is hard going but once you reach the brow it is so worth it.  Amazing views over the plain and a peaceful silence......and then it is all down hill!

Day 17: Beautiful Friend

She is smart, she is funny, she is caring, she is talented, she is dependable, she is encouraging, she is musical, she is patient, she is my beautiful friend x

Day 15: For the Love of Candles

I love scented candles and one of my favourite brands would have to be Glasshouse Fragrances.  They have an amazing range of yummy fragrances and their packaging is both elegant and stylish.

Of course Day 15 was taken in Redcurrent which is not only one of my fav shops but they also stock Glasshouse Fragrances.

If only this blog could come scented!

Day 13: A Slight Addiction

Okay I admit it I am addicted to House & Cooking magazines!  I live for the next issue, I always have a good reason as to why I should slip one in with the grocery shopping and can't bear to part with them!

Day 12: Time to Grow

As Angus and I were looking at how much his sunflower had grown this morning I realised that that sunflower represented many things for Angus.  Every year that Angus has been attending our local Playcentre Jackie, our supervisor, has planted sunflowers with the children.  Each child plants one seed to take home and one that remains at Playcentre to be planted out in the Playcentre garden.  This will be Angus' last sunflower that he will plant at Playcentre so I guess it is extra special as it represents all the fun times he has had at Playcentre and how much he has grown in the 5 years he has been there and that he will be soon be moving on to new and exciting adventures.

As sad as it is to say our farewell to all our good times at Playcentre, we are looking forward to Angus becoming a big school boy and spreading those little wings a bit further.  And here's hoping that that little sunflower will flourish into a big giant in our garden and when we look at it we can smile as we fondly remember those good times.

Day 11: Construction

With the help of some good friends by the end of the day our new adventure playhut now has a roof and walls.  A door and some windows and it will be fit for a King.......or Queen!

Day 10: Colours of the World

Dunedin was buzzing today as it gears up to host its first World Cup match between Argentina and England in the brand new stadium.  It is like there has been a colour explosion in the city centre as every shop is adorned with buntings and flags of all the World Cup nations.  It truly is a colourful world.

Day 6: The Woodpecker Hold

When Angus used a pencil, crayon, felt he would always clutch it in his hand, clearly this is not appropriate for a boy who is nearly off to school!  So as part of the bribe to practice using a pencil with a woodpecker hold, we got some goodies from Smiggle and he was only allowed to use them if he used his special woodpecker hold.....so far so good!
