Personal: Perfect Day for a Bonspiel

During the recent school holidays we were lucky to watch the 65th Bonspiel held on the Idaburn Dam in the Maniototo.  Following days of hard frosts the Idaburn was frozen solid enough for the games to take place.  Competitors travelled from all over New Zealand to take part and spirits were definitely high in the -4 celsius temperature.

Through the mist there was a colourful array of knitted jumpers and hats that my Nana sure would of been proud of and it was amazing to hear the sounds of all the curling stones gliding along the ice and to see such large amount of men on the end of a broom.

It sure was a moment that I felt truly blessed to witness such a spectacular winter wonderland, walk on a frozen lake and witness a Bonspiel that can only be held if temperatures drop low enough to freeze the Idaburn.

This was an amazing session.  A beautiful warm winters day, a gorgeous mum to be and an excited couple awaiting the arrival of their first precious baby.

Emma, you truly were beautiful and I can't wait to meet your little bundle of joy soon xx.

Babies: Hadley

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing this wee cutie.  A bit of change from weddings and the bonus was getting to have a few cuddles.

Weddings: James and Mel

It was a beautiful Autumn day for James and Mel's wedding which was celebrated at Grandview Gardens.  This was my last wedding for the season and it certainly didn't disappoint.  Mel and James are such a sweet couple and there was no doubt that these two are totally in love with each other.

James and Mel, thank you for allowing me to capture your day.  I wish you both much happiness for your future together.

Weddings: James and Brooke

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.......

Wow, words really can't describe how amazing this small and intimate wedding was.  I have loved and enjoyed every wedding that I have had the privelege of capturing but this one left my heart singing.  Maybe it was the casual approach James and Brooke had towards it, the small gathering of their closest family and friends, the fact that they chose to have it in the lounge of Brooke's mum's home, the emotion that filled the room, that James cried so openly as his bride began walking up the path, the amazing weather, the amazing light.  Whatever it was I was honoured to be there to capture it.
James and Brooke your day was perfect in so many ways.  You are both beautiful people from the inside out and your connection and love for each other was so evident.  I hope that your rainbow always brings you blue skies and turns your dreams into realities.
